The changes you're noticing may be about more than what is happening on the surface. As skin matures, cell turnover can slow and the structures responsible for firmness, elasticity and hydration can become less efficient. Sun exposure, hydration, lifestyle and your current skincare can all influence how quickly these changes become visible.

The important part is working out what your skin needs now, rather than simply adding more anti-ageing products.

Let's work that out together. During your Zoom consultation I'll assess your current routine and skin history and determine where I would start.

If your skin is frequently red, reactive, tight, stingy or easily irritated, it can be a sign that its protective barrier isn't functioning as effectively as it should. When this happens, products that would normally be well tolerated may trigger further irritation or inflammation.

With reactive skin, more skincare isn't necessarily better. The first step is understanding what may be disrupting your skin and what it can currently tolerate.

Let's work that out together. During your Zoom consultation I'll assess your current routine and skin history and determine where I would start.

Dryness and dehydration aren't necessarily the same thing. Skin lacking water can become tight, rough, flaky or dull, and dehydration can also interfere with normal shedding of surface cells and healthy barrier function. Dehydrated skin can sometimes still produce plenty of oil.

So simply choosing a richer moisturiser may not address what's actually happening.

Your next step is finding out why your skin isn't holding hydration effectively. Your personalised Zoom consultation allows me to look more closely at your current routine and identify what I would change.

Breakouts aren't always simply a case of producing too much oil. Congestion can involve a combination of oil quality, build-up around the follicle, skin hydration, inflammation, the skin's environment and products being applied to the skin.

Before adding another acne product, let's work out what may be contributing to yours. Book your Zoom consultation and I'll assess your skin, current products and breakout pattern before recommending your routine.

Pigmentation is your skin producing and distributing melanin as part of its protective response. Sun exposure is an important trigger, but hormones, medications, inflammation and previous breakouts can also influence pigment production.

This means that two people who appear to have similar pigmentation may require quite different approaches.

The next step is identifying what may be driving yours. During your personalised Zoom consultation I'll assess your pigmentation pattern alongside your skin history, current routine and photos before deciding how I would approach it.

Redness, heat, irritation, sensitivity or swelling are signs that inflammation is occurring within the skin. Barrier health, skin immune function and capillary activity can all play a part, and more than one factor may be contributing at the same time.

This is why repeatedly trying to calm the skin without understanding why it is reacting may not resolve the underlying problem.

Let's work out what's driving the inflammation first. Your Zoom consultation gives me the opportunity to assess your skin history, products and photos before deciding what your skin needs.

Uneven texture can have several different causes. Dehydration and surface cell build-up can make skin feel rough and pores appear more noticeable, while acne and inflammation can leave longer-term changes such as scarring and post-breakout marks.

The key is determining whether what you're seeing is primarily a surface issue, ongoing congestion, previous inflammation or a deeper structural change, because the approach won't be the same for each.

That's where your personalised consultation comes in. I'll look at your skin photos, current routine and history during your Zoom consultation before recommending the most appropriate way forward.
